"Nothing like a stocktake is there?"

Luther didn't have to turn around to see that it was his assistant, Kurt, who had spoken.

"No," the OEC answered. "It is fortunate that we've had some...assistance, from our enemies. They've done our stocktake for us. It was long overdue. The units, though in sufficient numbers, weren't producing as effectively as they could have done. Now we can have a more profitable upgrade."

"Do you know who did this, sir?"

"I have many thoughts on the matter."

"The Starman? Gilwain?"

"One has the intelligence, the other, the resources, but even with their combined efforts they would not have done this. No, it seems that we have a new player who has entered into the equation." He flicked a switch on a monitor which showed the Rolls Royce driving through the desert. "That one."

"If I may ask sir, who is it?"

"I don't know, but they've sold out their own side. The fact that I'm still alive means that they want to negotiate. I admire them already."

"They could still be a threat to us, sir."

"As could Blue and the Instigator."

"With all due respect, there's a ninety percent possibility that..."

"Figures tell me nothing. We have the maths, they have the music and if Blue still has the greatest music of all within her then there'll be trouble. Send whatever remaining Dogs we have into the underground Labyrinth. Blue must be found and killed, along with Yushera, Gilwain and whoever else is left. Go!"

Kurt nodded and left.
